Hip replacement surgery – regaining mobility through natural rehabilitation

An elderly male patient visited us following hip replacement surgery.

Upon discharge from the hospital, he was given a few basic exercises, but he was not satisfied with the range of motion in his operated hip. He wanted to know what rehabilitation treatments were available to support his recovery.

After surgery, early rehabilitation is essential. Gradual stretching and mobilisation of the tissues that make up the joint allow the hip—previously protected and underused due to pain—to regain its natural mobility and normal function. To restore the joint’s full possible range of motion, treatments that strengthen the muscles and improve circulation play a key role.

The thermal sitz bath provides ideal conditions for hip mobilisation, which we applied both in water and on land from the very beginning. Mud packs were also essential, further enhancing the stretchability of the tightened joint capsule and ligaments. Alternating medical massage with underwater jet massage allowed us to significantly stimulate local metabolism. Low-level laser therapy supported complete tissue healing.

Thanks to this complex programme, the patient experienced a marked improvement in mobility, function, and overall comfort.
